Inkcups has launched the XJet Switch, a digital printer for both direct-to-bag and hard goods applications.
Said to be the first UV flatbed printing machine formulated with high-quality bag decoration in mind, the machine can handle both pliable and hard/rigid items with both manual and automated loading options. The UV ink set comprises CMYK and two ‘highly opaque’ whites claimed to rival those from conventional screen print. It can print onto reusable bags made from a wide range of materials and colours, including challenging substrates such as clear and thin bags.
The unit has four rotating platens which allows for two simultaneous set-ups and can support three- or four-up production within the printable area. Its design also allows for continuous loading and unloading while printing and can support integrated pre-treatment of materials. Other features that enable industrial-level production include automated purging, wiping and capping stations, a white recirculating system, servo control indexer and two 16W adjustable UV lamps for curing. Rigid items up to 240mm high can be handled in addition to bags and totes.
Inkcups’ CEO Benjamin Adner remarked, ‘The Xjet Switch made its trade show debut at Printing United in 2022, and we were thrilled to witness its immediate success. This direct-to-bag printer generated a tremendous amount of excitement among our customers, who have been eagerly seeking a consistent and sustainable way to decorate reusable bags. This innovative machine serves as the perfect solution to their needs, for tote bags and beyond, and we hope to exceed their expectations. We enthusiastically anticipate the creative possibilities that our customers will bring to life with the XJet Switch.’
The machine will be demonstrated at Printing United in Atlanta, Georgia, USA this autumn.
