Paris-based DécoAder has installed an EFI Vutek Q5r roll-to-roll LED printer as it looks to both increase its output and maintain a competitive edge over its competitors.

The machine, which prints at speeds of up to 672sqm/hr and resolutions of up to 1200dpi, is the 800th industrial roll-to-roll printer that EFI has seen installed worldwide. It is also the fifth Vutek that DécoAder has acquired, with the other four still housed at the company’s 3000sqm Parisian premises.

The Vutek can print on both white and clear together inline, plus the UltraClear coat in glossy and matte modes with selective or full flood application for protection. This feature is used mainly for construction, interior design or personalised jobs. It also features EFI UltraDrop Technology with native seven-picolitre printheads and multi-drop addressability.

Furthermore, the horizontal roll-to-sheet cutter system integrated into the printer enables automatic media cutting on the X-axis on the fly, without delaying printing. This will allow DécoAder to streamline and minimise the manual handling process for vehicle fleet prints. Single- or double-bladed Y-slitters enable multiple jobs to be separated on a single full-width roll, reducing media waste.

DécoAder’s CEO Thierry Borrat , who has managed the company with Christelle Meyer since 2009, commented, ‘This printer has opened new horizons for us and will enable us to offer our services with a creative bonus and distinct added value at an extremely competitive price.

‘The economic model of our trade is changing. There are lots of challenges, but they are essentially based on pricing and the environment. The option of coating and cutting in-line enables us to once again compete in markets where there is a lot of fierce competition.’
